Crew Good; Old Tools Bad

Bill Ringeman, the Colorado Academy School District 20 Supervisor of Building Modification and Custodial, believes his custodians provide ample attention to maintaining his school district's restrooms.

"But they just were not coming clean," he says. "I did not think my crew was to blame for this; [I blamed] the outdated cleaning systems and tools [such as traditional cleaning cloths, buckets, brooms, mops, and sprayers] that we were using."

Looking for an alternative, Ringeman saw the Kaivac No-Touch CleaningTM system demonstrated at a tradeshow. He was so impressed, he purchased a KaiZen machine--a smaller version of the full-sized KaiVac--as soon as he got back to work.

"From the start we noticed an improvement," he says. "Using the NoTouch system, we can deep clean our restrooms every night, and they look--and stay--much cleaner than ever before."

Ringeman was so happy with Kaivac's NoTouch Cleaning system, he demonstrated it to the district's parents and top administrators, suggesting they purchase more machines. "Well, that was three months ago, and from just 1 Kaivac machine we now have 30--one for each of our 27 schools and 3 auxiliary facilities," he says.

And like most Kaivac users, Ringeman soon found many other areas around the schools where the No-Touch Cleaning system could be used. For instance, the machines are now used for cleaning stairwells and desks as well as cafeteria tables and chairs. "It's very versatile," he says. "But what I still like the most is how thorough the Kaivac system cleans. In my 19 years with the district, I can't remember the restrooms ever being this clean."
