Kitchens present special challenges for cleaning and sanitary maintenance. Grease and other materials often layer the floor. This coats the tiles to make an unsanitary and often dangerously slick surface to work on. Perhaps the greatest challenge is grout, which can collect and trap dirt and grime, staining the lines and creating an unhealthy breeding ground for germs and odor, causing bacteria. Sometimes anti-fatigue mats are employed to improve safety, but they simply trap more soils and are even harder to clean than the original tiled floors. In the face of this daily build up of dirt and oil, not to mention, high employee turnover and limited training, the traditional mop and bucket method just doesn’t stand a chance. In fact, they often just spread the soils around without really removing them causing the current state of our kitchens. Kaivac has solved this problem with its patented No-Touch Cleaning systems. These field-tested machines are perfect for use in any kitchen or food service situation, and more. The specially designed grout-cleaning tool restores your grout lines to their original brightness. When combined with our proven methods, these user-friendly machines keep kitchen floors clean, safe and attractive. Simply apply chemicals to the floor, rinse, and vacuum up the soils. It’s that easy. Let’s get started! First, take your No-Touch Cleaning Machine to the nearest janitor’s closet or wash room, fill the tank with cool water, and choose the appropriate chemicals. Kaivac has developed a heavy weight degreaser called KaiPow. This powerful cleaner rapidly penetrates oils, greases, fats and soils most commonly found in cooking areas. Check the label on the bottle or the included manual for the correct dilution. Make sure the surfaces to be cleaned are commercial grade. Also, you may want to pretest the chemicals in an inconspicuous area before use. ?        To connect the cleaning chemicals to the dispensing system, first, remove the bottle cap. Then, select the proper metering tip according to the owner’s manual or gallon jug settings. Finally, screw the dispenser cap onto the bottle. ?       Now, prepare the Vac wand. If necessary, attach the standard squeegee head to the end of the wand. Tighten the locking-collar by turning it counter-clockwise several times until it’s snug. Then pull out the squeegee head until you can feel it snap into place and finish tightening the collar. With a full tank of water and the necessary chemicals, place the Kaivac unit a convenient distance from the area to be cleaned. Our 40-foot vac hose allows you to clean 40 feet in any direction so that you can cover up to 80 feet of floor with each placement. ?        Lock the front wheels on the machine. ?        Quickly check the area for any large pieces of debris. ?        Unwrap the electrical cord. Start by lifting up the first loop with your right hand then unhook the lower loop ending with placing the upper loop in your left hand – just like a lasso. Lift up, unhook, place in hand. Lift up, unhook, place in hand. ?        Plug the machine into an outlet; making sure that the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter is lit. You will notice a red light indicating the GFCI is functioning properly. ?        Unwind the pressure hose using the same “lift up, unhook, and place in hand” technique that we used with the electrical cord. With your hand opened flat, lay the first loop at your thumb, then each subsequent loop next to the previous, working out toward the fingers. Lift up, unhook, place in hand. Lift up, unhook, place in hand. ?      Turn the chemical selection switch to on. Some No-Touch Cleaning models come with a dual chemical switch. In this case, select the side you’ve connected to the chemical tube. ?        Turn on the pump. ?        Walk away from the machine and lay out each loop “lasso style” as you go. The last loop in your hand is the first one off, and the first loop on is the last loop off. This will aid in maintaining hose control. We’re now ready to apply our solution to the floor in a gentle fan spray. ?        Pull out the spray nozzle to set it for low pressure, and then rotate it to the right for fan spray. ?        With a wide fan pattern, take easy two-foot step increments, and quickly apply the product to the floor. Make sure you apply solution to any exposed floor surface, including alcoves, under sinks, behind doors and into corners. The manual brush is great at loosening stubborn soil. The side and floor bristles allow the operator to clean all areas including floors and baseboards. For daily cleaning, you would now return to the unit to begin extracting the solutions and soils. However, because soils tend to accumulate in corners and on baseboards, it’s a good idea to blast and rinse any hard to reach crevices and crannies on an as needed basis. This is a great complement to our daily Spray ON-Vac OFF routine. ?        Once you’ve finished using the pressure hose, return to the No-Touch Cleaning machine and turn the pump off. Then, point the gun towards the floor and press the trigger to release the remaining water pressure from the line. ?        Kaivac has developed a simple, quick technique to wrap the line that keeps it clean, and keeps you from bending over, saving your back. It utilizes what we call the “right hand rule.” Grab a KaiTowel, fold it neatly and place it in your right hand. Now, with that same hand, pull the line and extend your arm fully, cleaning and drying the pressure hose. With the left hand, grab away from the machine about a foot and a half out. With your thumbs facing each other, bring your hands together forming a loop on the bottom of the hose. Hook the bottom, let go with the left hand, come up and over the ear with the right hand, pull out fully with the right hand, grab with the left hand, bring your hands together to form a loop and continue the process until the hose is completely wrapped up. The hose is now clean and tidy. Rinse off and dry the pressure gun. Turn on the safety to prevent accidents. ?        Now that the cleaning solution has been applied to the floor, we’re ready to vac it up with the Vac wand and Squeegee. ?        Remove the vac wand with attached wet surface squeegee and connect the Vac hose. The cleaning solution has now had plenty of dwell time to loosen and suspend the soils. ?        Turn on the vac motor. ?        Clean the area directly around the Kaivac machine first. Having done that, you can now unwrap the vac hose without laying it in soiled water. ?        Make sure to clean tiled floors on an angle. This will maximize suction and prevent streaks. With Kaivac, it’s a breeze to clean under sinks and tight spaces. Always clean around edges with the ends of the head, for optimum suction power. ?        When you’ve finished vacuuming the floor, return to the no-touch cleaning machine. With the vacuum motor still running, turn the wand upside-down and tap it to dislodge any remaining liquid and to prevent dripping when it’s unhooked from the vac hose. Wrap up the vac hose making sure to leave the vac motor on. This keeps liquid from dripping out of the hose as you wrap it around the posts. To clean and maintain grout lines, you will want to use the KaiGrouter. This optional tool is designed to blast ground-in dirt from grout lines. It utilizes a high-pressure spray only one inch from the floor to blast away difficult grout build up. The simultaneous extraction function instantly removes soils and solution. These features make the KaiGrouter ideal for kitchen cleaning, as well as carpet spotting, and baseboards. First, squeeze the trigger of the spray gun and release any built up water pressure onto the floor or into the receiving tank. Then, with the machine turned off, simply remove the spray gun from the high-pressure line and attach the spray line to the connector on the KaiGrouter. Next, attach the vac hose. When you are ready to clean, turn the pump and vac motors on, select chemicals and simply rotate the valve on the vac head for chemical spray. Squeeze the trigger and begin applying product. When you are ready to use the high-pressure spray, simply rotate the valve back to high pressure and begin spraying. Line up the yellow line with the area to be cleaned and blast away. ?        When you’re finished, turn off the vac motor and wrap up the vacuum hose with the vacuum running. ?        Place the base of the wand in the convenient drip tray and snap the top into place. ?        Unplug the GFCI and wrap up the electrical cord using the right-hand-rule. ?        The ergonomic dump hose feature makes emptying the contents of a Kaivac No-Touch Cleaning system quick and easy. The upright, highly maneuverable design allows tight turns in a janitor’s closet or a restroom stall. And, the long, 42” dump hose allows for a long reach. In a dump sink or toilet, unhook the dump hose and remove the plug, making sure that the water level is lower than the end of the hose to prevent spillage. Empty the contents of the recovery tank. ?        Replace the plug, and hook the clip around the cuff. ?        Finally, move to your next cleaning area or store your Kaivac machine for the next day. With our systems, there’s a place to store everything. This helps keep your tools organized and your work place tidy. In addition to kitchen floors, our customers tell us that they use these versatile machines to clean many other food service areas, such as cafeteria and dining tables and floors, grease splashes on walls, behind stoves, fryers and other appliances, to pressure wash and sanitize meat slicers and other equipment, to clean underneath prep tables where brooms and mops can’t reach, as well as hoods, meat lockers, coolers, sinks, garbage cans, restrooms, and much more. As you can see, using Kaivac’s innovative cleaning systems is much faster than a dust mop or wet mop. By following these simple, productive steps, you can be sure that your kitchen floors will get clean and stay clean in a way that is worker friendly - without wasting valuable cleaning time. (Insert paragraph?) Once again, Kaivac has developed a way to remove soils and bacteria with safety and cost effectiveness in mind. Whether cleaning kitchens, hallways, restrooms, classrooms, lobbies, stairwells, carpeted areas, or any other area in the building, Kaivac has the solution for your cleaning needs.
